Abstract
This article identifies future trends in relation to exchange-traded fund (ETF) products in Europe. It does so by analyzing the existing ETF segments across equities, fixed income, and commodities that show a healthy presence in their respective asset classes but do not have a representation in the ETF space. Such segments might provide avenues for the development of new European ETF products in the near term. The article also analyzes the market share of various ETF segments within each asset class available in the European market and compares them with the broader market. It then builds on this comparison to identify potential intra-asset class redistributions and growth opportunities in the European ETF industry.
